  1. 10) "Snow piercer" before "Soylent green"? Seriously?
    09) "Children of men" before "Contagion"? Really?
    08) "Contact" before "Close encounters of the 3rd kind"? Are you joking?
    07) "Her" before "Blade runner"? Did you even see these movies?
    06) "Planet of the apes" before "The Matrix"? They aren't even in the same league!
    05) "The prestige" before "Interstellar"? They aren't even the same genre!
    04) Ok, I can live with "Metropolis" – but not my first pick.
    03) "Spotless Mind"? No way. Boring. Try "eXistenZ".
    02) "Stalker", the first I can agree with. Still, I prefer "Solaris".
You were right with number 1, though.

  2. where's the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers??? It's a masterpiece.

  3. "you know, i can feel the fear that you carry around, and i wish there was something i could do to help you let go of it, because if you could Download a free audiobook with your 30 day trial." such an iconic line

  4. Very good list.
    Galaxy Quest
    Cloud Atlas
    Code 46
Until The End Of The World

These AMAZING sci-fi gems never get a mention (on any list).

  5. The fact Star Wars episode V and The Matrix aren’t on this makes the list invalid

  6. @mcskeldge says:

Eternal Sunshine is easy the best one here

  7. I DON'T AGREE WITH THE "APE CONCEPT" WHAT OF A SCI-FI ABOUT THE FALLEN PEOPLE. WHO HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN THEN LOSE THIER "PROMISE OF EVERLASTING LIFE. FIRST WE HAVE TO SPEAK OF "GOD" A CREATOR. THAT IS NOT RELIGIOUS . ISN'T EVERLASTING LIFE AND THE BIBLE SCI-FI IN A WAY. PERSONALLY I CONSIDER THE BIBLE A UFO BOOK FOR DUMMIES. ESPECIALLY THE PART WHERE SATAN FOOLISHLY ATTEMPTED TO CHALLENGE "GOD". THAT IS QUITE A STORY IN MY ESTIMATION. A BLOCKBUSTER IF I EVER HEARD OF ONE.

  8. Was Tarkovsky's Solaris even mentioned?

  9. I am here in the future from 1949. It isn't what it was written about in 49, it's much worse. I would like to return to the beautiful world I came from. Good luck to those who have to live in the post 2023 world, you will need it!

  10. @Cobe299 says:

    Where is Solaris?

  11. Snowpiercer?! Seriously…that movie is absolute garbage. They ruined a great story. Then you shit on Interstellar and call the Prestige a Sci Fi movie? I'm losing faith

  12. I like Galaxy Quest, Sunshine, Primer, TESB, Aliens, thx-1138, CEOTTK, and Blade Runner at #1

  13. Wow! A sci-fi list that doesn’t simply go with the flash and bang. Nicely done.

  14. @Gada101 says:

How can they have top 10 science fiction movies and not include Wrath of Kahn!?

  15. Her over bladrunner, you are out of your minds

  16. People hating on 'Her' is understandable. But everyone who thinks snowpiercer or children of men shouldn't be on this list should just kill themselves

  17. I dont get it snowpiercer is a overrate movie. Hollywood es with glorification of violence that comes strange in the movie, with terrible CGI. I dont think it belongs on the list.

  18. Holy shit thank you for actually having contact on the list. Honestly I really think people who don’t love Contact don’t actually appreciate sci fi for what it is, and rather just want to see cool technology and space stuff. Movies like contact give sci fi its real meaning

  19. @bitsbard says:

This content is resourceful. Should you be enticed by this subject, a matching book is encouraged. "Galaxies United" by Olivia Whitestone

  20. mullholand drive needs a mention here

  21. Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 should have been there on this list. The first film questioned what makes us human and the second film questioned are memories enough for being a human.

  22. From the golden age of science fiction ( the 1950s) I could pick out at least 8 all time SF movies

  23. you are an old school guy

  24. This made my day to see Contact being picked for the alien movie. One of my favorite movies of all time and one I have and still quote to this day.

  25. @CH-sl5eq says:

I generally don't like when films are re-made; however, I would be interested in a remake of Logan's Run. Unfortunately, they'd probably screw it up.

  26. To bad Stanley Kubrick didn't direct 2010. That film was the craps (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!

  27. @21Million says:

Chronicles of Riddick should have made it IMHO

  28. @messertl says:

    No Blade Runner.?…whatever

  29. @RR_DM says:

x: Sorry, Mz. Lau…you're dead because someone mistook your last name as that which belongeth to an abortionist and this is the deep South
    y: learns

  30. @fuffoon says:

2 of these are on my top 20.

  31. What a bullshit.

  32. Good list of great sci-fi. 2001 is the best movie ever made, any genre. Hoping Dune 2 makes any new top 10.

  33. It should be named top 10 most pretentious science fiction. Planet of the apes is good, but the rest of these films are a bit boring at best. Blade Runner, Starship Troopers, Alien, Robocop and Dune should be in any sci-fi list.

  34. Excellent review – thank you!!

  35. @dukeon says:

Wait, you chose Her over Blade Runner?

  36. @dukeon says:

The Prestige is an incredible film, a definite favorite of mine. I just don’t consider it Science Fiction. It employs a fantasized “what if” of N. Tesla and his mysterious genius that serves as a plot device for Nolan to allow Jackman’s character to step beyond than ethical/moral line in order to prevail. The technology is fanciful and never explained, because that isn’t the point. It’s like rubbing a bottle and finding a genie for Jackman. Genies always extract a price. So…dark fairy tale, morality tale? I’m not too interested in categorizing it. But it’s not “Sci-Fi” to me. Put Blade Runner back on, and put it in the top three. Just because it’s been analyzed a thousand times doesn’t make it any less of a masterpiece.

  37. @dukeon says:

Also, since I’m 3 years late and basically talking to myself… I liked Children of Men a lot, watched it quite a few times, red the book. I would put it my top 25 or top 20, but I think it misses out on my top ten. That’s just me though, and not a knock on the film. Replace it with Solaris.

  38. Snowpiercer? no. Contact? no. You picked Her over District 9 or Blade Runner? Some many hopeless picks.

  39. Not a single Star Trek movie mentioned anywhere in this video… shame.

  40. No "Blade Runner"?

  41. Blade Runner..

  42. Genius, I tells Ya. It’s like withholding an Oscar nomination from Margo Robbie just to get people to yell and scream about how unfair it was. Great sci-fi films are the kind you want to watch over and over again and never get tired of them. Films like Predator, the Core, and Alien. Your grouping has half the films that nobody’s ever heard of and the other half nobody ever watched. (Not counting 2001). What meaning does life even have with no War of the Worlds, no Star Wars and no Avatar? None! It’s going to take some time for people to digest these picks and get some closure.

  43. I love how your top-10's give me 30 movies to watch

  44. The Road was a great film.

  45. #4 (authoritarian future) should have been Rollerball!

  46. what the….!!!??? no Star Trek???

  47. Hmm, that's more like "10 Movies to Watch After You've Sseen the Top 10 Science Fiction Films of All Time"

  48. Yep gone with the wind is the best Sci Fi ever … you guys are total dicks

  49. MATRIX …end of story

  50. Would have to say I disagree with most of these picks.

  51. Children of Men is one of my faves. Thank you for including this film. It’s good sci-fi because it’s totally plausible. We are headed to a dystopian future without doubt.

  52. Whres bladerunner or alien etc. Bad list

  53. Almost the perfect list. Blade runner instead of The prestige. The prestige…for f sakes…..

  54. "2001" has great spectacle and sound, but it is not a great sci-fi film.

  55. GATTACA!!!

  56. Sorry, I just noticed this video is six years old.

  57. Finally someone recognizes '2001' as the best sci-fi film ever…!

  58. Just to reiterate…whatever quibbles I have with your other choices (where's Things to Come, Day the Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet?), 2001 is the #1 of all time, not bested even by the time of 2024. For my money, it remains the best film of all time. Love you, Charles Foster Kane, but Uncle Stanley nuked you.

  59. @issi529 says:

The Thing should have been in here. The Prestige was absolutely amazing btw.

  60. @Tone6372 says:

Glad Snowpiercer make it to this list, great film. Stalker is incredibly boring and over-rated. The industrial cinematography is amazing but there's nothing else going on.

  61. @siats142 says:

Imagine puting Her and not Jurassic Park

  62. My top 3 would be Interstellaŕ, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and the original Time Machine with Rod Taylor. War of the Worlds, Day of the Triffids and The Thing would be part of a top ten also…the originals of course,no remakes and not the film that the Thing was based on that was called The Thing from Another Planet released in 1951. im 60 yrs old almost.

  63. @Taffthat says:

Any list that excludes Star Wars is wrong. Just all wrong

  64. Zardoz, it's in the same category as 2001. Most people will object violently to including Zardoz in any list except "worst movies of all time."
But, if there are no superior intelligences to guide us in this universe, if it's all up to us, and we aren't up to the task, what's the way forward? Will Nature herself find a way?
When you watch Zardoz, as I know you will, and you see the highest civilization current humans can manage, you might see some trends that are familiar now. You'll realize that John Boorman is a genius.
When you see Sean Connery in his red boots and panties, you'll laugh. All it means is that for some reason Zed and his friends don't need to wear warm clothes even in a Scottish winter. They really don't need to. And their clothes are blood red because their main job is killing.
This is a movie that will make a lot of sense after the second of third viewing.

  65. Should of at least done a top 30 science fiction films of all time!

  66. @BCOMPLEXX says:

    I agree, I liked Interstellar.

  67. This list is a joke, maybe this is some kind of politically correct list

  68. @gecsus says:

Nothing even mentioning Forbidden Planet. A spooky classic. I supposed most here have never seen it.

  69. Prestige? Sci fi?

  70. list of bullshit

  71. i here to look over sci fiction not history ,,,,,………… fucking idiot admin

  72. @k_dee9168 says:

No. No. No. Planet of the apes (1968)? The movie is so bad…

  73. planet of the apes ending is ate up i will never forget that the staute of liberty half bury in the sand great ending ever

  74. i. hate. your. channel.

  75. The Man Who Fell to Earth. Maybe not top 10 but worth an honorable mention.

  76. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is #3. This channel just made it onto my "Do Not Recommend" list.

  77. Until The End Of The World is great if you have the 287 minutes to sit down

  78. Contact is complete trash.

  79. I’m late to the party, but for movies that examine our reactions to our ultimate demise, I would suggest “Last Night” from 1998 (director Don McKeller). The movie takes place over Earth’s last six hours.

  80. As a scifi nerd this lost is dog poo..

  81. I fixed your list:

    Star Wars
    2001
    Forbidden Planet
The Day the Earth Stood Still (original)
    The Thing (1982)
    Alien
    Close Encounters
    Interstellar
    Metropolis
    Blade Runner

  82. Funny I have a band Shoehead. It is from a Zen Koan in Gateless Gate

  83. Primer and Coherence deserve honorable mention.

  84. That's the best science fiction films? Sorry bro, but even for example Russian made better sci-fi films as your choice….. I am not Russian I am just a fan of sci-fi, but definitely my pick up would be completely different

  85. Now, Metropolis is just about 2 years away!

  86. "Forbidden Planet". KLT

  87. who is watching in 2040.

  88. lmao how to analyse Snowpiercer zithout mentionning class struggle, what a performance

  89. @Navin-q4u says:

I hate that fuc*ing lady voice

  90. I find the story of gattaca kind of similar to men of honour based on carl brashear. Both very relatable and they haven’t been out that long.

  91. I’d have a hard time not including “Blade Runner” and “Alien”, myself

  92. Stalker is by far the most boring and pretentious film I’ve seen

  93. Were is movie title mf.
