A full-fledged synopsis for the proposed movie accompanies the fanmade Back to the Future 4 trailer. It reads, “Tom Holland takes on the role of a brilliant young inventor, Jake McFly, who stumbles upon Doc Brown’s long-lost journal. The journal contains secrets to enhance time travel capabilities, opening up new possibilities and unforeseen consequences. As Jake navigates through various timelines, he encounters both familiar faces and new challenges, all while trying to prevent a mysterious adversary from rewriting history.” The trailer already has 1.8 million views at the time of writing since its Dec. 10 release.
Speculation about a potential Back to the Future 4 has been ongoing ever since the eponymous threequel in 1990. Franchise co-creator Bob Gale denounced the possibility of a fourth entry, telling Variety in July, “There’s no need to go back to that well. You’ve seen too many people go back too many times. As I’ve said many times, the characters in Back to the Future are my family, my children. You don’t sell your kids into prostitution.” Additionally, Fox expressed that he isn’t keen on a Back to the Future reboot. The movie trilogy is widely revered, making over $965 million at the box office, with the first film receiving four Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Sound Editing.

Interesting… and why? … Never "Reboot" or "Remake" a classic icon…. but if done write (lol get it?), only further the story to the next story effectively from the original concept, characters, storyline, and elements.
i.e. (and some hated it) the way Matrix 4 was organized and presented and similar to Ghostbusters 3 & 4 build (not re-build) and execution.

The guys behind the original movies, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, have been very clear: they don't want to make another one.
